Sound only coming out of left speaker when playng ipod through hi-fi
Hi,
I've got my ipod conected to my hi-fi via the docking station but sound is only coming from the left speaker. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong? I have checked all the connections and there's no problem with my amp or speakers so I just wondered if there is anything I need to check on the ipod? To be honest I rarely use it and haven't had time to read up on it.
Thanks,
Tracey

never had an ipod before but im assuming they dont have Pan functions which could have panned the sound left or right?
Does ur ipod sit in that dock that those ipod hi fi's have? If your getting a left and right out of your headphone socket, does ur hifi dock have a standard 3.5mm jack to connect other devices to it, try connecting ur ipod up to it that way? If ur still getting sound out of only 1 speaker then id suggest its a prob with ur hifi thingy
If u are getting both channels that way, then its a problem with the docking port on the pod or on the hifi so i suggest u borrow someone elses ipod and try it so u can distinguish the problem between the device and the hifi

It's definitely not a problem with my hi-fi as when I first got the ipod it was coming out of both speakers. It could be a problem with the dock maybe, either that or I've accidentally changed a setting on the ipod?

On my amp I have buttons to turn each speaker on or off, as well as panning the sound left or right
A connector could have gone whilst in use - I recently had to change one of my speaker cables

Thanks, it's just a case of eliminating things and working out what is wrong. My amp doesn't have the option to change the balance unless I go into the menu but if that was the problem it would affect all sources and not just the ipod. It must be a problem with the ipod, the dock or the cable. Maybe I'll get some time over Christmas to sort it out, it's just annoying not knowing what the problem is.
