Red face Phantom Menace : Three irritating problems

Hi all

I have just bought the region one version of Phantom Menace.
I have 3 irritating problems with it.

1. Jar Jar Binks
2. The film is childish compared to the original excellent "Star Wars"

and

3. Even though I have the film commentary swithed off I still see a title popping up on the top of the screen saying "Lucas", "Butt", "Knoll" etc... it's very very annoying. I'm not sure how to get rid of it.

Apart from the above, the dvd is good, nice effects esp the Pod Race. I just hope that movies don't deteriorate to this level purely
for the sake of a prequel\sequel.
For example I'd rather have a pure excellent "Blade Runner" on a
better special edition dvd than a Blade Runner 2!

The dvds player i'm using is Song DVP-725D modified by
Techronics.

Please advise,

Shaz

3. I also have the Sony 725 (techtronics mod) and R1 SW: PM. I did not have any problems with subtitles popping up.

You could try going to the subtitles menu and setting subtitles to None.

As for Blade Runner, the SE should be out later this year, it will be a new "final" cut of the movie and the commentary has already been recorded for the dvd, they are now obtaining and making the extras.

New final cut? Any ideas as to what the new final cut is going to be all about then?

It will be a true directors cut as opposed to the directors cut that currently excists that was done by the studio and not Ridley. The voice over is removed and he will be condensing some of the shots that had that over it. should be good, getting a new mix by the people at Skywalker so should sound very nice.
