Panasonic DMR EH50 "Please Wait" ?

Everytime I unplug this unit it's hard to turn back on. I accidently unplugged it while still running to move it. Now it will not get past the "Please Wait" message. Have I damaged this unit? If so, it is awfully delicate and surely not worth the money. Does anyone know how to correct this problem.

Sounds a bit harsh, but it depends on what the recorder was doing when you turned it on as switching off when reading or writing to any form of memory will kill it, that's why we all have to shut our PC's down before switching off and are told not top remove our cameras memory cards when taking photos. The first thing to do is always to get the machine to switch back on properly but to then go in to the Setup menu and format the HDD to earse any data which had been corrupted when powering down, but don't forget that a format will lose any recordings that are currenly on the HDD.
