MCE + Sky problems

I've set up my MCE system and have been experiencing annoying problems trying to get it to work with my new Sky box.
The probems are as follows in no particular order;
Can't get the MCE to change channels on the Sky box, have run through the learning process a number of times but no joy, have tried two different LED lead's in the MCE blaster box, but still no joy.
The sound from the Sky box via MCE is awful, sounds are distorted, currently using a scart from the Sky box to the Red,White and yellow phonos on the back of a PVR150 (colours are naff too, very orange) the sound then goes from the MCE to the tv via a 3.5mm jack.
I have tried the sound from the Sky box via an amplifier and that was much better except it arrived two seconds before the picture did(?)
The box is a PACE one and any suggestions on alternative wiring or what convertors (if any) to use would be very gratefully received.

BTW I have tried using the PVR with just the MCE drivers and have also downloaded the full set from Hauppauge too, makes no difference to which ones I use, the Sky box sounds fine when played straight through normal scart to scart on the TV...

Hi allanco,
I received my new pvr card yesterday, mce 150 which I bought from scan. I also have the same horrible audio.

I thought it may have been the leads, but I've tested with multiple leads and no change.

I've gone thorugh everything, and I believe it's the hauppauge pvr150 mce card which is causing the distorted sound. I also tried downloading the latest drivers, and even the beta drivers from the hauppauge website but there is no change.

My setup is the same as yours, sky digibox -> scart -> 3 phonos -> pvr card -> [(a) sound card -> 3.5 jack -> 2 phono] [(b) graphics card -> 1 phono] -> TV.

I can change the channels on mine though - You have to make sure the ir blaster is in the right position though, if it's wrong it can send the wrong numbers.

I don't think the cabling you use are the problem, unfortunately it's the pvr card

For what it's worth - I also tried using the coax cable going into the pvr card, but it didn't find any signal. The coax cable was going from the sky box into the card. I also tried with an aerial on my roof. both methods work fine with my TV, but not with the pvr card, so I think it's defective.

Anybody else have these problems with cards bought from www.scan.co.uk ?

The picture arrives 2 seconds later to the TV, as MCE encodes, and decodes it again before displaying it, where as the amp receives the sound straight from the STB.

I've recently had audio distortion problems using the PVR 150. What drivers are you using? I had problems with version 2.9, but have no sound problems with version 2.7a (don't know the exact date they were launched).

I am using 2.9. Are the older drivers listed for download anywhere?

Thanks for all the replies, stuck in Northamptonshire/Leicestershire yesterday for 6 hours trying to get back to London after an awful crash closed the M1.
Will try suggestions later today.

Are you certain you have the IR stuck to the correct point of the Sky box, and it's firmly attached?

I recently spent 45 minutes trying to get mine to work again, and found out that whilst moving the box, the blaster had come un stuck ever so slightly.

Sorry Sniff! didn't realise that you'd put the original link up!

With regard to where I'm putting the IR sensor I have tried all over the front panel of the Pace box, even using bits of card to see when the original remote stops sending the signal, if anyone has a picture of exactly where it should go I'd be most grateful...
