What sort of cable does Sky use to connect to the phone line?

I want to install all the cable for the phone line myself as we want to run it an extremely weird way around the house to the phone line, is this possible, and if so what would we need?

All you need to do is run standard 4mm 4 core telephone cable available at most electrical suppliers. If you do not fancy terminating the cables yourself just leave it to the Sky installation specialist (make them work for their money).

The cable that Sky uses is exactly the same as that installed by BT for connection of additional slave outlets around your home (usually 4 core, but sometimes 6 core). Technically speaking the main telephone socket (master) within the house should only be open by BT, consequently Sky will only install a combined plug & extension block terminated onto the 4mm cable you have pre-laid. At the Set Top Box end a corresponding RJ12 socket will be installed allowing the supplied RJ11 to RJ12 lead to plug directly into the phone line. All you will need to purchase / install is 4mm round 4 core telephone cable and any suitable 4mm clips you require, Sky will do the rest.
