Sony hack?

I see a lot of posts here and elsewhere on hacking a DVD player such as my European DVP NS-305. All of them involve punching in numbers, but the remote that came with my player doesn't have numbers, just up and down buttons. What am I to do here?

OmniRemote on my Palm might be an option, but then how do I train the numbers?
