Anyone else can't play it back?
Mine (R1) freezes just after aspect selection. Haven't tried to play any of the extras yet, it's the film I'm after.
Pioneer 737.
Will be trying it on my Yamaha 795 in the morning to see.

Never had a problem with any disc before (except Dinosaur).

Well it worked fine on my Pioneer 717 last night

Loaded ok in my Yamaha, so I'll be watching it in a little while.
The only thing I can think of is that the 737 doesn't like the branching to whichever aspect ratio you select on the disc.

Jeepers wasn't labelled as RCE at Play, so it looks like either a dodgy machine, but it's worked fine with all my other discs (so far), or a player/disc issue.
It seems the days of player/disc incompatabilities still exist! Hmmmmm.................

gutted..me too..
Wouldn;t play passed aspect selection on my Pioneer 939-A so I had to slum it and watch it on my Pioneer LD/DVD combi..
First time I've had a problem..and the extras work fine...

The hardest part was explaining to the wife why I had to 'put back in' the inferior player! I just know she's stored that one up top for the next time I want to upgrade to something better.

By the way, we quite enjoyed it. All the classic moves like, 'You're not going down there?' etc. Great......

Plays fine on my Skyworth, nice truck old Mr  driving, wonder were I get me one of those, sorry to here of your problem General, seems like Mrs General :kisses: will indeed bring this up when upgrade heaven stars a calling, they all do,but we seem to get there in the end, might have to suffer in some way  Thats one of the reasons I got the Skyworth /progressive scan/full multi region and format from anywhere in the world/and only £270 delivered stright to the door from Hong Kong in 4 days. And Mrs Daddy :kisses: likes the look of the player so hopefully we can try for the upgrade to a` DPL 2`amp and not suffer the wrath of the female species too heavily  then again ....Hmmmm doubt it

wierd

could be a faulty disc

pioneer 737???
rce dont work on my 919 and the717 downstairs, you have to feed it a non-rce disc first, eject it, then insert the rce disc.

i use the blues brothers as my initial disc as it has strong reion coding, but is not rce, not tried with other discs yet, although i presume they would work.

This doesn't play on my region 1 Toshiba SD9000 either, freezing at exactly the same point after the aspect ratio selection. It works on my region 1 Panasonic A110 and on my PC, so it looks like a software problem.

This is a real pain as the Tosh is the only player in my AV room and I can't bear to watch this (unseen) movie in anything but premium conditions to scare the hell out of me!

I'll return it and get another, see if the problems have been addressed.

It's a let down when a good horror isn't watchable like that.
If you had wanted to see a grown man have a tantrum, then you should have heard me in action when it wouldn't play in my Pioneer!!!

Mine refuses to play past the aspect ratio screen too, on a Sony 525 :(

Have you noticed what look like air bubbles on the outside of the disc?

Gonna have to send it back I think :(

Looks like one player too many now!
I'll check my disc for bubbles.
That'll be a new one for returned discs I'll bet.

I swear it has two bubbles, did try to take a photo but can't get it to focus :clown:

Best guess:

Disc is 2-layer. Selecting ratio requires layer switch. Second layer is defective, therefore won't play.

General Skanky

How so defective?
And what does that mean for a return?

Rambo John J

This problem is being reported on both sides of the Atlantic and is specific to certain brands and models of player. Similar, I'd imagine, to the subtitle issue on Monty Python And The Holy Grail which only affects particular players. I'd be very surprised if anyone got a replacement that didn't do exactly the same thing until MGM get round to sorting this out.

Not that this really helps anyone. Sorry.

Has anyone tried the R2 version on any of the players that don't like the R1 version?

If so, does it work? Is R2 uncut?

Cheers.

There was never anything to cut. So yes, R2 is uncut.

When I bought my Pioneer 646A from Techtronics it stated that this machine would not play R1/R2 Jeepers Creepers.

This was also the same for the rest of the Pioneer players. Not that I was bothered about this film anyway, mine only worry is if they use the same technology to transfer other DVD's. One's I might actually want to see.

Plays okay on my Denon 2800.

I do however experience two minor dropouts in audio, right at the very start of the region 1 disc, just as the United Artist logo appears and fades.
