Newbie Question, DVD/receiver/TV connections
Hi,
Just ordered a DVD recorder and an A/V amp/receiver surround sound system. Panasonic DMR-ES20DEB with 'Freeview' Panasonic SCHT17 Existing Sony CRT TV, 2 scarts and stereo phonos on rear Have trawled the net but still need help. Struggling through the manuals, I think I need to connect as follows 1) Fully wired SCART from DVD to CRT TV (A/V1) 2) Optical cable from DVD to receiver. 3) Do I need a pair of phono leads to connect DVD audio out to receiver audio in when playing CD's on the DVD Is this correct? The last time I messed with home audio, amps did not have video connections. If I now introduce a VCR into the equation, are the video connections on the reciever there to allow the source switching on the handset. Would I connect, 1) DVD to receiver using scart (DVD) to S-Video (receiver). 2) VCR to receiver using scart (DVD) to S-Video (receiver) 3) S-Video (receiver) to scart (TV) 4) Optical cable from DVD to receiver. 5) DVD audio out phono to receiver audio in phono 6) VCR audio out phono to receiver audio in phono Also 7) would I set the DVD audio out to Bitstream. 8) the optical connections on the receiver are labelled TV in and DVR in. Is DVR an abbreviation for my DVD recorder. 9) The S-Video connections are, TV monitor out, TV in, DVR/VCR in and DVD in. Which one would I connect the DVD recorder and the VCR to. OR can someone point me to a good site explaining all this? Many thanks for any help, cheers, nick http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...onnections.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...onnections.jpg Last edited by nickpike; 10-12-2005 at 3:16 PM. |
