nVidia MCE drivers vs standard

I have been saying for a while that you can just use the latest nVidia drivers instead of the MCE ones which seems to run behind....Well I think I have to come back on that statement...

I've been having a very choppy UI. XP-MCE was fine just after a reboot, but the moment I actually played a file (video or music), the UI became really choppy. Strangley enough the actual video was not choppy just the UI. Also strangely enough my utilisation was at about 2% when the UI is choppy...

Then I decided to install the MCE specific drivers, and the problem disappeared and I couldn't replicate it anymore....

I find this absolutely intriguing as I wonder what they have done to MCE to make it so different....

I am using 81.95 instead of the dedicated MCE drivers but it all seems ok, does anyone know what the actual benefits of the MCE drivers are?

I don't like uninstalling drivers for the sake of it.

I also found that mce will give spdif audio out problems if you dont use the specific nvidia mce video drivers with purevideo

Mine won't playback ANY video with the non-MCE drivers.
