Unhappy Barco Graphics 800 Problem.....

Hello everyone!

I’m a new member of this forum, and I was planning to ask for advice about
setting up my “new” (from ebay) Barco Graphics 800 projector.
But I’m afraid my first post has to do with a problem…
(BTW, lots of Barco problems…)

I bought last week an old RCVDS 800 switcher and yesterday I tried to connect it with the projector.
(5 BNC connectors from pc vga card)
I connected both BNC and serial control cables.
Although the RCVDS powers on, it doesn’t show like it can see any incoming
RGBVH signal (the red led next to the connectors doesn’t light up) on any of the 3 inputs.
It doesn’t seem to be able to control the projector from the serial cable too.
So I guess it’s got a problem and I should return it to the seller.
That’s fine so far.

The problem is that while it was connected and I was pressing its buttons to
try to see any reactions, the projector suddenly switched off.

I tried to turn it on, but nothing happened.
The only thing that powers up is the power led, and it too seems a little dim.
And when I turn it on, I can’t hear any “standby” noise from inside the projector.
Now I removed the power module, and I checked all 8 fuses, but they seem to be ok.

You can understand that I’m a little frustrated with my luck, just when I thought that I got
the whole set (projector + switcher), I suddenly lost it all (due to the faulty switcher).

And I only got to enjoy the projector for about a couple of weeks……

Does anybody have any idea what could be the problem? Can I repair it,
do I have to find a technician, or I’ll have to sell it for parts?

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any response, and forgive me for any mistakes in writing…

sounds like an SMPS failure in the projector.

when you do get it working DITCH the switcher! I honestly doubt you really need it!

Thanks for replying!

I was wondering if there is a way (and if it is wise) to check and repair the
module with a multimeter and a soldering iron.
(I already have the service manuals for the projector)

What would you do?
Does anybody sell old modules? (or only ebay?)
