CD doesn't sound as good as DAB

Hey all,

I've just bought my first system and am really pleased with it apart from the sound I get when playing CDs. When using DAB the sound is fantastic but when I spin a CD the sound seems a little flat to me. The missus who has much better hearing than me says that she thinks it sounds fantastic but to me it sounds different.

I have the following kit:

CDP - Cambridge Azur 640
AMP - Cambridge Azur 540
DAB - Cambridge DAB 300

Speakers - Mordaunt Short 914
Speaker cable - Gale XL 189

CDP Interconnect: Mark Grant 0.75m
DAB Interconnect: Cambridge Pacific 2m

The CDP was an open box deal from Richer Sounds and looks as though it has been very well cared for.

I am wondering if the previous owner of the CDP hardly used it and it needs more time to bed in. I have had the DAB for well over a year and so that has had ample opportunity to bed in.

What could be causing this do you think? It could be just me who is expecting too much from my CDs for the budget kit I have got!

Do you think it would be worth bi-wiring?

CDP do need running in, so another week or so should have it singing hopefully... not familiar with the player myself so can't comment

As for biwiring, IMHO I'd generally say yes but it does vary from speaker to speaker
