Commands required to watch TV with MCE PC

Before my father gives his consent for us to use a MCE PC with "his" TV in "his" front room, he wants to know how easy it is to simply watch TV. He's used to using a standard TV only (turn it on and it goes to the last channel used) and is concerned about 'fliddlyness'.

Could one of you MCE guys/girls let us know how things work in this regard please? Does MCE automatically go to TV after boot and when coming out of standby mode? Can you change its default behaviour? If not, what do you have to do?

Thanks.

Yes it is pretty easy - there is a button on the MCE remote for 'live tv' just press that and live tv should appear. Just need to make sure tv is set to correct input, and the amp if using one. A Harmony type remote will help with that.

Could your dad not continue to watch tv as normal if he is on his own, and let you use the MCE when you are there?

Thanks Lisa. So TV's only ever one button press away at the most - thanks for the confirmation.

And yes, I suppose you're right; our TV has an integrated digital tuner, so if Dad didn't want to use the MCE PC he could still use the TVs own tuner and EPG - correct?
