PS3- HDMI Cable Question
Does anyone know if the PS3 will have an HDMI cable when it launches.
I have just bought a Sony KDLV40A12u and the Component slot is being used for my Dav-x1 Cinema system and the TV does not have a vga slot!.
Is there any other way I can get High Definition on my set with a 360?
I can't keep swapping component cable over because the Alphason stand I have is awkward to get the leads in and out of to say the least.
Any help would be appreciated.

from the specs that have been released so far, it looks like it will have 2 hdcp complient hdmi ports on the back (which is a similar setup to the high end nvidia graphics cards that are available for todays pcs).
unfortunately, with no vga port, you are restricted to the component from the 360.

Just been looking at the pictures of the back of the console, and it looks like theres a regular AV output (like the ones for the ps1 and ps2).

If i were to get one of these, do you lose any picture quality?? I don't want to spend on this box and lose the quality i've gained by buying good quality cables.
I haven't connected the 360 up with component yet, so dont know the difference.

Expensive I know but most decent AV amps come with builtin component switching and the higher end models even come with HDMI switching! - spending an extra 100 notes on a more powerful amp may save you 150 - 200 notes for a quality switcher!

I'll be using my amp for component switching when my X360 arrives. I havn't used it thus for for fear of picture degradation I'll report back with the results once I've got it all set up.

I can happily report that using my trusty Yamaha 757 SE component switching from my 360 works a treat so hopefully you should be OK too mate

PS3 will have 2 HDMI ports AND a standard PS2-type analog video output that will support anything from composite to component. I'm sure a VGA cable will also be out at launch.
The HDMI cables will be out at launch simply because you will only need a standard HDMI cable you use today on HDMI enabled DVD players.
I'm sure Sony will also release their own overpriced PS3-brand HDMI cables, but a standard DHMI cable you buy today will do just fine.
Obviously there is that little issue about 1080p60 so you might want to be careful which cables you buy as not all of them support that. Not likely PS3 will ever output that signal or that your TV will take that much but i'm just mentioning that to be on the safe side.
