You can mod this for multiregion, but there are no "free" methods, you`ll need to pay!

As you have not bought this yet, theres no reason not to buy it pre-modded via a specialist dealer, theres plenty out there, either a pricerunner search, or check the sponsors of the forums for more info.

Hi

Thanks for the confirmation thats what i thought. I have found that he player retails for aroung £270 unmodded and have found a place that will see me a pre-modded for only £10 more so i might go for that.

Yeap you`ll usually get a full warranty that was with a new "modded" unit also.

I bought mine yesterday from Comet for £240 unmodded.

They had a special offer on - stating 'end of line' etc....

I ordered one of these today £219 + £9.95 delivered. I'll get it on Friday just in time for the weekend.

That's a good price.

I taped Coronation Street tonight for the missus.

When I went to the 'programme selection' screen it names it automatically which is quite cool, but where does it get the info from?

Thinking about it I do not think I got a region free one so any ideas where I can get a hack for this player.

I'm going to be retiring my Sony DVP-S735D DVD player that is currently multi-region. The main use for this recorder will be for recording from my Sky digibox. I've got a media center PC that I use for playing back my DVD's in 720p on my Sony LCD TV.

There may well be times when I want to playback a non region 2 DVD and not bother with the PC and I really do not see the point in having 2 stand alone DVD playback devices & a PC hooked up.

Thanks in advance

Grant

Steve
I phoned the company up that I ordered the recorder from and they are sorting it out for me £20 extra on top of the unit price. I did find a website called http://www.multi-region.co.uk

They rent special programmed remotes that will make most DVD players multi-region.
