Denon DHT 500
I have just ordered one these and will be connecting this to Hitatchi 32LD7200. Can anyone give some advice on connections? Should I use the component connections, if so what lead should I use, I should say at this point I have no problem investing a reasonable about of money in a good lead, say £30-40. Any other advice on setup either for the Denon or TV settings would be appreciated, I have already used the Sky settings posted elsewhere on this site which are excellent.

Component will give you the best picture. I *think* you will also need scart, at least initially, as the set up menus do not come through the component connection (could be wrong here, still waiting to upgrade my own tv )

Give this a try - a £25 Belkin component cable for £7.49 in a bizarre bit of web pricing Just select collect from store, leave it an hour and pick it up. Btw, the picture is wrong - it IS a component cable you get. Very nice too....got mine last Friday

I'm not sure he is wrong.
You have to turn the component on via the menu before you can get a signal and before you can do this you need to connect via a scart to TV or some other more basic lead.
I'm sure this is the case as I recently converted my Denon to a multiregion and found that I could no longer get a signal via component. Nearly had a heart attack until I realised I had re-set it to factory settings and the Component was switched off on the menu.

The benefit is that you can play discs from other regions
Opens up a load more choice, better prices, earlier release dates....and more chance to spend money

You can connect Sky+ via an optical cable (digital) or white and red phono leads (analogue). Optical will give the better sound and also provide 5.1 sound with certain films, if you get the movie channels.

Sorry to sound dim but it this just as simple as connecting an optical cable between the sky + box and the Denon?

Yes. And then setting the input on the Denon so the sound comes out.
Easy-peasy

What would you suggest as the best connection between a cable Pace box and the Denon 500. I believe a phono cable will do the job? But what connections do i wire it up to on the Denon.( Is the best route)
I will be connecting the Denon to my Sony 32in crt via a fully wired scart.
Is this the most effective combination?

Oh no he isn't.
You need to go into 'DVD Setup' via the supplied composite lead and adjust video out to Component.
If you just hook up the RGB leads on a new system, you get a very blank picture - I know, I did it last night!
Also very interest to hear what brackets are available to wall mount the satellite speakers.
