Best mobile as a (back up) camera?

Hi folks,

Title says it all really.

Iīve done a bit of checking, & seems the Sony 750/800i might have been best, as thatīs 2 megapixel with an expandable memory, but Iīm boycotting Sony, so need to find something else.

The īphone functions donīt need to be necessarily advanced, I want a mobile for the odd īphone call & to carry with me as a back-up for when I canīt be bothered to carry my main camera with me.

Iīm hoping that the difference between a 1.3 & a 2 megapixel camera may be relatively slight anyway? Not just 0.7 megapixels

Other thing, I need the īphone now ... canīt wait for new models to come out.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Iam.

Nice phones, thanks ... but a bit expensive at or around the 500 quid mark ... can anyone recommend something about 300 quid?

I heard the Samsung D600 was pretty good.

I still highly recommend the K750i though.

Its not just the megapixels, the lens and any autofocus count too.

You won't get better than the K750 for image quality and function/use, so it depends if you want to boycot and lose out

I can also reccomend the K750i camera for good results considering that it is only 2Mp.

Xcute DV2 is 6MP. Or the DV1 if 3MP is enough for a backup.

I've recently had a K750i, a Samsung D600 and a W800i....

Hands down Sony wins.... even though the Samsung D600 is 2 megapixels, there is no focus and no cover for the lens unlike either the K750i or the W800i

Thanks for the advice folks - I went for the Panasonic VS6, half the price of the others, not a Sony, nice screen, & only obvious downside to it is the lack of memory card expandability.

Odd thing is, Iīve had it getting on for a week, not took a single photo with it yet - which makes me glad I did nīt splash the cash on something like the N70.

So far, Iīm pleased with it.

Thanks again,

Iam.

With latest firmware upgrade makes K750i/W800i and excellent camera phone. Second option is N90

The VS6 is the camera bargain of the moment. The pics it takes are very close to that of the K750, probably easily equal to that of the D600. The VS6 also has a macro mode, which is missing on the D600; D600 beats the VS6 on video though.

You made a good choice!
