Panasonic TX-36PD50 Help !!!!!!!!

I have posted 4 times already regarding this Tv & the issues i'm having with it, but as of yet i've not had anyone who can help me! I'am now at the end of my tether & require some one who's qaulified to do so to action an independent review on this set, to enable me to go court with this matter! I've contacted 4 Panasonic agents but none of them are willing to do an independent review on the set. One agent said off the record they would not do it on the basis that it could affect there Panasonic service contract. Please if your in the service area can you please help me.

Hi

Perhaps you might get more replies if you tell us what problems you are having, and what other equipment you are using.
I have looked at your other posts and they dont contain much detail!

If you are looking for a reccomendation for an engineer, then you will need to say what area you live in.

Crap Service, causing me £1900 of stress !!!

Hi, i live in Whitehaven in Cumbria.
I have the following equipment connected to a Panasonic TX-36PD50:Pioneer 575a dvd player via IXOS component leads, Toshiba RD-30XS via IXOS S-Video lead out & IXOS scart lead in, Sky+ via IXOS scart.
My problem started over 10 months ago whilst watching R1 NTSC dvd's at the bottom of the screen i get a horrible distorted glowing line, which can protrude over an inch at the bottom of the screen. This at first was put down to using low quality leads, so i invested in new IXOS component leads! But yet the problem persisted, i also noticed that whilst watching R2 PAL dvd's using the progressive scan function i get a 4" white misty line down the right hand side of the screen. The next line my dealer came up with was that my Play back of R1 NTSC disc was causing me the problems with the set & that my set was working within it's stated spec as it was a PAL Progressive set & not guaranteed to playback all NTSC sources (It actually won't accept any with out fault).
Anyhow after being with my dealer & Panasonic for about 10 wks it was said to be working within spec, so it was returned back to my dealer & then back to my mam's until i could move to my new house.
Once i'd got it to my new house i discovered my PD50 had changed into a PD30, when i contacted my dealer they told me they had no idea of what had happened ! I then contacted Panasonic who told me on the way from my dealer to Panasonic my PD50 had been smashed & when they informed my dealer/courier neither would accept liability, so as a sign of good will they changed the casing with a PD30 which was all they had as they no longer make these sets.
Now to make matters worse i'm getting the distorted line on standard Tv, and any region dvd PAL or NTSC. So essentailly i'm getting it constantly now. I can send photo's for anyone that can help to look at! just email me. Thanks

Hi

Sory to hear about the problems you are having.
I worked collecting faulty TVs for just less than 3 years, I know a little but I am no expert. I have not seen a fault similar to yours.

If you have a constant problem which has been seen by the TV engineers, then you need to check out that explanation.
I have seen different faults, which was clearly a fault, and it was said to be within tollerences. It may depend on how forcfull you are with your complaint, and if it is within or near the 12 month warranty.
There is also the issue of having a different tv delivered back, if this has a different model/serial number, is this a better/cheaper model?

Your warranty is with the shop you bought it from, but if you feel you are not getting good service go to the manufacturer.

Hi

This sounds similar to a fault I had on my PD30 - I had to go into the service menu to alter a couple of settings to fix it. If you do a search on the Panasonic PD30 problems thread you will find more details. Hope this helps.

This sounds like the same or similiar problem I have with mine where I get a glowing green/blue line at bottom right protruding in the order of 10mm or so.

This appears on some material and dissapears altogether at other times... I can't quite fathom out why it does it but I think it must be a PSU problem.
It can be hidden from view to a certain extent by adjusting geomagnetic correction and overscan (but you lose a bit of picture )

I've not noticed this however.

I don't think your very alone with problems with these sets, talk to most set owners and I think you'll find they have something to talk about.

Mine recently went back with problems under guarantee and after a lot of engineer talk, the fault that it went back for was considered within spec (panasonic words, they said they know about it ).... so I told them in no polite words that it was not acceptable within spec or not!
I was told unfortunately that the sympton could not be repaired if Panasonic considered it to be within spec.
I reluctantly agreed to take telly back as a new tube was also being fitted , so I thought this just may make it bearable or even better..... wrong!

The fault is faintish horizontal flickering lines via scart RGB or S-Video with some connected equipment which was re-created in the workshop with their equipment. The problem is sporadic with regards to annoyance of picture but permanent on a totally black background.

I'm now considering to kick up a fuss again as it is very annoying.
