Sony DVD Recorder RDR-HX510 handset hack?

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has successfully used a remote control hack on this player to allow multiregion playback?

Thanks for any feedback

it appears that there is no handset hack available

It can be done....with a special remote....but it costs !!!

Already been answered few times on an earlier threads (forum search).

Basically there are no handset hacks for any Sony model. This thread will help with "FREE" modification options you can do yourself, or the banner at the foot of these forums for a "PAY" option.

I ordered a remote from dvdchips (a panasonic dvd player, which, like Sony, there are no hacks for unless you buy a chipped remote) and it actually works!

In case no-one checked the link I posted to the earlier thread regarding modding this for free :

You need a kamelion one for all 6 remote (or similar)

prepare:
1. select dvd device on remote
2. hold magic button until device key blinks twice
3. enter device code 0533

program buttons 1-5 with the following codes:
1 - 189
2 - 255
3 - 095
4 - 221
5 - 079

1. hold magic button device key blinks twice
2. press 994
3. press magic
4. enter 3digit code from above
5. press button (1..5) where to program it
6. repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys.

have a go:
1. remove disk, put player on standby
2. press 1,2,3,4,5 - Timer OK is displayed for DVD RECORDER HACK

I just hacked my new RDR-HX510 using a remote I got off ebay, cost was £9.99 and return postage for the remote. Bit of a bargain and it works.
If anybody wants to know who it was from, ( Its not me, or anybody I know personally!) just ask

allan

Sure, put this item number into ebay, 5840129623 If this isnt available or the listing is ended, contact the seller.

It definately works, he sends full instructions and its really simple to do. If it doesnt work the first time, keep pressing the Mac 1 button every few seconds ( all will become clear when you get the remote) , it will eventually do it

Or you could just buy a OFA remote from argos, use it then take it back within their 16 days returns policy....
