Do I need to re-hack my player?

I recently brought my DVD player downstairs from my room as the main one was on the blink. Its a Toshiba SD330E, which was bought as a multi-region player and has always worked fine. But when I moved it back to my room, all multi-region discs are playing in black and white. Anyone know what's wrong with it?

The reason the disks play in B/W is that they are NTSC (as nearly all American / Canadian import disks are (Region 1) ).Some TV`s cannot process these signals correctly and therefore B/W pictures appear. The T.V in your room could obviously process these with no problem but the one Downstairs obviously cannot.

The Player does not need rehacking. you either have to set the output on the player to PAL (Which is the system which all Region 2 disks use and Most European based TV`s) or the T.V needs to be set up to display PAL . You will have to check the Player or T.V`s instruction book on how to achieve this as all Players and T.V`s are different.

Some players and some T.V`s cannot be changed and in this case you are well and truly Knackered ...the only options then is to buy a new T.V or Player or purchase a NTSC to PAL convertor ( if you can find one that is)

Hope this helps
