Anyone used a W550i yet?
Wife will soon have her phone upgraded, just wondering if anyone here has used the SE W550i yet?
She likes it, and so do I (I'm trying to persuade her to swap it for my W800i if she goes for it ).
Any owners here?

I have both off them ,what do you want to know ......
Size wise the W550I feels and looks bigger then the w800i, but is not realy that much ,,,,,,,
the only advantage the W800i has, is removable memory card
where the W550i has only 256mb
but sound ,games are much better on the W550i and for music as well on loud speaker the W550i
blows the W800i its much clearer louder as the speakers are placed in better places then the W800i
also it is designed with games in mind as well as the buttons are well placed
worms on the W550i is super brill ..........
but the W800i has a better camara on it compared to 1.3mp , as w800i has
2mp
So get both and have the best off both worlds
if you need any more info let me know ....
I am very happy with both off them
If i wear to have just one ????? Not sure
Would prob sell both and get either W900i or nokia N91 ???????

You've got both? Have you got the MXE-60 flash for the W800? S/E told me that it works on the W550 as well, Im just unsure as to how well it will work.

I have had the w800i and I currently have a w550i and there's not a lot of difference. Biggest two are a fixed memory (256mb) as said before and the camera is 1.3mp and doesn't have auto focus like the w800i and the k750i.

Just wish Sony would make these phones Atrac3+ compatible, it's their own music format and their phones don't support it!!
Maybe one day..... then I can get rid of my Sony HD Walkman.

memory
I just got the W550i and I am sooooooooo pisssssed offfff when I realised that it has no expandable memory. Its like a car that doesnt allow you to put a turbo inside. Its freaking primitive thats what it is. Its a fine phone, but considering the technology available today and the fact that its other more uglier cousins (I should add), and the more expensive W900 (which is veeery nice but being a higher spec phone makes it more expensive which I find racist, okay richIST), it behooooves mankind that a phone like the W550i, or any phone in existence today should have a non-expandable memory. Its primitively disgraceful and someone should sue SOny for such an abomination. I mean what were they thinking when they made the phone? : " it looks nice, it plays good music, good games, buuuuuuut, hmmm, lets stump 'em and limit the amount of memory on it, muhahahahahahahaha(evil laugh), that'll **** 'em off. Teach 'em to be poor, that'll widen the gap between the middle and upper classes, muhahahahaha."
Imagine my position, I've got this nifty piece of kit-NOT, because Sony decides to not allow me to expand its memory. I've actually got to think about what stuff to put inside the phone now instead of just chucking on all those media files that I can just tap into anytime I want. I was going to get the W800, but hell, its not as pretty as the W500i. It looks so averagy that I hardly gave it a second look. WHY SONY WHY ?!!!!! You techno junkies depriving mankind of it's right to unlimited and audaciously large amounts of memory capacity?! I KNOW YOU COULDA MADE THE W550i have expandable memory, YOU OWN TECHNOLOGY, YOU PRACTICALLY INVENTED THE WORD TECHNOLOGY. Its a clever marketing ploy thats what it is.
By the way the W550i also has an inability to fast forward the largest of media files. I have some humangous files like talks by Noam Chomsky and stand ups by Bill Hicks, but hey, guess what, their too big for the phone to fast forward. So before finishing listening to Bill Hicks and his impressions of Satan, having been interrupted by life, I later come back to the media file and cant forward it to the place I was at before. Why? Im still asking Sony.
Faithfully,
Haz
(wishing he bought one of them expandable memory phones...why? the future is a phone with memory as large as our PCs, heck, the future is a phone that is a pc, and the fact that technology ages in years smaller than dog years means that the future is pretty close. Nothing kills my smart assed need-to-have-the-best-phone-around mentality than a phone whose memory is like that of a 2 year old baby. In 12 months time my phone will be a freaking relic. A relic I say a RELIC!(chucks his phone against a wall and sees it explode into beautifully arrayed rainbow-like colours comprising of gold and silver and green pieces of electronica, with the 256 unexpandable megabit chip implanted straight into my right eye "aaaaaaaaaaarrggggggghhhhhhhh 256 megabit unexpanadable memory, HOW YOU KILLLL MEEEEEE").
( I hate sony ).
(the W800 looks boring, come one, admit. Go one better and get the W900. Thats where the rational thinking techno's got together with the designers and decided to make a phone that looks nice aaaaaannnd is not a practical embarassment).
My opinion: Dont get the W550i if you care about storing large numbers of media files and having them on-tap to use. The W550i allows you to have these files on-tap, but only about 80 of them. I have to replace and transfer more files over a less amount of time compared to somebody who has a 1GB memory stick who can just chuck everything on and listen to them over a longer period of time. Check the sony ericsson website www.sonyericsson.com.

O................................................. ................k. Get at mummy's tablet cupboard did we?
I'm going to state the obvious here and tell you that the w550 tis a budget version of the w900, made without expandale memory and a less camera, plus a bit of a dumbing down of the phone features wise, all to keep price down. If you want all the features of the w900, here's a tip for you, but keep it o yourself, we dont want everyone finding out......................dadadad drumroll.................................buy a w900. But the price is higher and "richist" (racist? hahahahah) because it has the extra features.
Cars withanything more than the base spec will cos more than the base price, same applies.

hasbulelias - you knew the darned W550 had no expandable memory before you bought it, didn't you? Why go off on a completely unhinged tangent about something you should have known about before hand.
Its a much, MUCH cheaper phone than the K750/W800, and a lot less than the W900.
It does the basics very well - battery life, signal strength, voice quality (even via my BT headset) are the best I've ever had out of a phone.
The camera is okay, and if you add on the MXE-60 flash, its really usable indoors.
What do the K750/W800 add onto the W550? More memory (expandable), and a better camera. Thats it. The rest of the feature set is almost identical.
The W900 doesn't add that much more on - more internal memory, 3G (which not that many people really need, eh?), and its got the 2mp camera from the W800, but without a lens cover.
Get over it, the W550 is a good phone. Maybe not what you wanted, but thats ultimately your fault for not checking out its specs, and deciding on what you wanted.
Finally - atrac3+? Not going to happen. Sony are biting the bullet and going AAC and MP3.
