1080i 50/25 Canon Camcorder

Just spotted this from Canon:
http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/prod...l_h1/index.asp
Don't know if it is the first 50/25 HiDef camcorder on the market or not. It is obviously semi-professional (videographer) class but compact single CCD units can't be far behind. Looks like we might be making our home movies in HD before some of the broadcasters get off the ground.

Jim.

Sony and JVC have a couple of HDV camcorders knocking around as well. (You need to check the frame rate and resolution carefully - as ISTR that some models from JVC didn't offer 720/50p)

You have to look carefully at how the 25p progressive video is derived - some still run the CCD at 50i and de-interlace to 25p (with de-interlacing artefacts). Other cameras run at 25p natively - though I don't know if this includes domestic HDV models.
