HD Divx On a stand alone?

I have a pio 436 (HD) and a tosh 350e dvd player that also plays divx. If i burn a HD Divx Movie onto disc and play it on the dvd player what will happen? Will i be watching HD or will it get downscaled to a lower res?

It probably won't work at all.

The SD->HD upconversion is a separate process after the MPEG2 or Divx decoding (even if it is performed in the same IC) - the actual MPEG2 or Divx decoding is SD only. AIUI HD sources aren't scaled, because they are "too big" to be decoded in the first place (they require too much RAM to buffer the I, B and P frames required to reconstruct the video)

The only solution that I know of for playing HD Divx etc. on a standalone device is to buy something like the Snazzio 1350, the Zensonic 500, the Buffalo LinkTheater, the AVEL Linkplayer 2 (or the JVC badged version of it) etc.
