Stereo not working.

Hello everyone, I am new here. Just been given a pioneer head unit its a deh-p3000r, Im not sure it works, The fuse at the back was blown so i have replaced that, I tried it across a batterie and nothing happened, didint even get a spark. I put the black on the negitive and the red a yellow on the positive, i think this is correct? Is there anouther fuse inside the unit?
Any help and advise would be great
Cheers
