The nvidia decoder will work for all mpeg2 content so dvd's, vob files, .ts

As for xvid and divx, you are probably best getting and installing the ff directshow filter.

I would never ever install any of the codec packs available on the internet, it will more than likely reduce you media center to a steaming pile of rubble!!!

Ok maybe not, but it will most likely break a lot of stuff.

Cheers

I'm converted to the MyMovies pluging in MCE then enable TheatreTek for DVD playback utilising FFDSHOW for processing, the Lancoz scaling is definitely superior to me than what Purevideo is doing...Purevideo is good, but that combination is just fantastic....

Yes especially if you are not using an Nvidia Gforce card that utilises dome of the purevideo stuff at the hardware level, e.g HD decoding.

Cheers

chaddy: Sorry to have caused confusion...With Purevideo codec you can definitely create a stunning picture, also with the Radeon which I use on my laptop....I just noticed that with theatretek and ffdshow the picture gets that little bit better especially on older? not as good produced dvds....On some of the new very good dvds the difference is much less imho....

Don't know if Theatretek is still doing their special $39,95 for Theatretek, but that includes the Purevideo codec, so for that price you get best of both ;-)

The first thing you should do is download MyMovies (free!) for MCE...With this installed MCE will ask you which player to use when you load DVD in your drive, or to record it to disk!

In order to quickly get Theatretek setup and easily...Well that could be hard, but I found that this little guide is producing excellent results by default!

http://www.theatertek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7854

I went for scenario 4 together with the guidance in the 'what do I turn on' section...
