Smile Escort Van vs 6x9 sound

hey

escort van and speakers prob

i hope someone can give a little advice and make my day.i would appreciate it very much

ive got kenwood 6x9s fixed into a flat piece of mdf and then hung the wood to inside of van roof at rear.

van door | van door

--- is flat piece of mdf fixed side to side with holes cut out for speakers

it looks summit like this if look in rear view mirror. and vice versa when you open van doors at back, you see the backs of the speakers.

prob is the sound aint great and been told coz speakers are all open at the back and they need to be boxed somehow. (like if they were in parcel shelf it would be the boot acting as box)

i dunno what to do coz int much room between back of speaker and van doors and be a struggle making boxes to cover each speaker.

is there such thing as a material i can fix to the doors where the back of the speakers face. something to do with absorbing the sound??

look 4ward to reading any replys and thanks very much
take care

tbh what you have done will probably sound shocking.

If you can get the speakers in the doors, with dynamat or other soundproofing onto the door skin this will sound a lot better.

Basically most speakers need to be some sort of enclosure. This means that a box is needed of sorts for how you have them now, or at least mount them in a panel that is
large and goes from floor to roof.

If you want good sounds in your car / van, the best bet is to ditch the 6x9's, get some decent component speakers in the doors, with a sub in the back. All powered from half decent amps and you will have a 1000% better sounding system that you have now.

It need not cost a fortune.
