If you're after an ultra quiet HDD...

...then you need a Seagate Barracuda IV.
Just installed a 60Gb version and I can't hear the thing spin up even with my ear right next to the machine.

Agreed - my 40Gb Barracuda certainly isn't contributing to the noise in my room - that would be the projector

I'm a Barracuda 111 owner! Now with additional silent drive noise dampening enclosures!
