Marantz 5400 OSE - Deal or No Deal?

Hi - In my quest to update my antique Marantz CD52 (mid 80's IIRC )
I have spotted a Marantz 5400 OSE for £125 (this is new not 2nd hand)
Good deal or would my £125 be better spent (?)
Paul (with apologies to Noel Edmonds for the title!)

your money would be better spent on a s/h marantz cd63 ki sig cd player you might get one on your budget from ebay or you might have to stretch a little more

Thanks for the replies tinoest & burgeruk - although both the CDPs you mention have gr8 reputations I'm a bit wary about 2nd user stuff unless from a dealer (usually with a 3 month warranty) £150-£175 seems to be the going rate for the Alpha 8 & CD63 (without risking one from Ebay) Reviews of the CD5400 OSE seem very positive & it should be a huge improvement on my current CDP so I think I have talked myself into getting it! Just need to find a way of breaking the news to wifey

why be wary if anything the laser will go but this is rare, but you can obtain a repacement for under 20 quid if it does
