Projecta High Contrast S : any one seen it?

I have a Z4 set up with the tweaks from this forum and as I have to buy a new screen I wonder if the new Projecta High Contrast material would provide a black improvement.

Projecta quote: High Contrast S : double-sided coated grey vinyl on a woven fiberglass support with black backing; gain 1,0 and viewing angle 45º L/R.

http://www.projectascreens.nl/pages...4&productID=190

My current screen is the DRH Matt White - no complaints - but I need a longer drop - hanging screens from wires in the ceiling is not conducive to harmonious relationships. The Projecta screens have an extra 77cm border.

I haven't managed to find anyone who has reviewed this material. Does anyone have any comments on this material? or do others make screens with long drops?

comments and advice apreciated.

I have one on order from Inmac which I will be using with a Z4. I'll let you know what it's like when it arrives (which should be any day?).

Alas, not yet. Gave them a ring the other day and they reckon it should be with me by Dec 10th... although they didn't say which year!

It has arrived! Very well packaged and heavy. It is not the prettiest looking thing as it has a square case, but because of the long drop it can be screwed to the ceiling even if you don't like to have a "high up picture", or have a high ceiling.

There is a very slight improvement in black level over the DRH matt white, not in my opinion worth changing for though. The highlights have a slightly "sparkly" quality which brightens them up and improves the impression of contrast. This effect is similar to, but not as obvious as, projecting onto white foamex. It does allow you to close the lens iris more giving a better black level.

Most importantly, the sceen hangs flat. As it is new I am very aware of the differences between it and other screens. I prefer it to foamex but am not sure whether I prefer it to matt white. The best judgement will probably come after a couple of weeks when I have become used to it!

It certainly gives a different quality of image to a matt white screen and should really be demmed to see if you like it.

Hope this helps

You are a star and this helps enormously. I would be interested to hear if you have any other feedback once you've used it for a bit. The long drop is very important for me.

Thanks again

Will do. Like you the long drop was the deciding factor for me, although I gather you can have a special order extra long drop from some suppliers. Doubtless this would add to the delivery time but then the Projecta screen took over three weeks against the four days mentioned on the Inmac website.
