£1000 to spend on separates. CA Azur & KEF?

[FONT=Tahoma]I have about £1000 to spend on a CD player, Amp, and Speakers.

My room is 7m by 5m (though low cielins).

Any suggestions?

I had considered the Cambridge Audio Azur 640C v2 (CD player), and Cambride Audio Azur 640A (Amp) - on the basis that they should word well together and have had excellent reviews.

This comes to about £500.

The I thought about the KEF iQ5 speakers (another £400) leaving a bit for connectors etc.

Does this make sense? My music tastes are varied (Coldplay, Classical, U2, vocal music).

Are the speakers too feeble for the size of room? If so, what do you suggest.

MANY THANKS to all that reply.

Peteros with the size of your room, I would be looking at employing an active subwoofer + standmount speakers.

Spend £25-30 on "connectors" - the CA kit is highly regarded.

there are often "package deals available from your pocal dealer at £1k go demo some stuff and see what they will do often you will get discount and all the connectors you need throw in as part of the deal.

If your willing to look at second hand equipment have a look at this thread http://www.zerogain.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8982. I guess the real point of the thread is that a great system can be built without spending your complete budget.

If you have ever done any basic electronic DIY there is always the various T-amp (DIY-Paradise, Audiodigit etc) or the huge range of valve or speaker kits
