For a long time I have thought about making a good Subwoofer.

The plan is to start with a small design, a simple sealed box, similar to one of the popular Subs you can buy.

Here are a few links I have found:

BK Electronics (http://www.bkelec.com/)
Look in 'Modules and Hybrids'.
Nice looking Amplifier modules, and in England :)

I cannot get a catalogue of Subwoofer parts, prices and specs etc from them for some reason :(

The Subwoofer DIY Page v1.1 (http://www.diysubwoofers.org/)

Subwoofers.org (http://www.subwoofers.org/)

Does anyone have any cabinet designs for a small sealed Sub?

Mark: Try contacting GaryG, he is the supplier of Adire Audio products in the UK. Adire make the Shiva 12" and Tempest 15" subwoofer drive units that are very popular because they are very good.

I am building a sub based on the tem pest at the moment.

Mark: How is your sub coming on? Have you decided on the parts yet?

I have had a look at http://www.adireaudio.com/ at the .pdf plans.

Lots to read and learn.

I will start building something after Christmas.

Probably a ported sub with the Shiva, but not really decided yet,

I will post some pictures when the project gets underway.

Have you got that Tempest working yet?

Ramius built one and it was all detailed on here some months ago in the speakers Forum. If you do a search ou should find it. he put a lot of useful info on the site.

Mr A,

I have found that thread here (http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22985&perpage=15&pagenumber=1).

Some good links in that thread, I like the test tone generator download:)

I will probably build something similar, but with a light oak effect finish, that would go nicely with my main speakers.

I have a Rel Stadium 2 Sub, so should be able to do some comparisons eventually.

Hi. Few year ago, I bought a NHT1259 Woofer & KG5230 Amp from Madisound, and built a 3 cubic foot sub. Some pictures attached. The external dims are 745 high x 450 wide x 550 deep (its big). The cabinet is made from 18mm MDF which is then wrapped in 18mm birch ply. Internal dowels to stiffen up the contruction. Weighs an ton. But love the sound. :smashin:

Believe that madisound till sell the stuff.

Happy DIYing

hey adireaudio some nice subs they look did not see a UK site to buy any of them tho

any one know any good / average priced mids and sites there was some peerless ones i found but no site in uk so i could see anyway

i went more for the car audio style box slot port with bk 500rms amp and used a car sub "compx" it is good but i did not bother with sound dead stuff in the box so on some sounds it can make the box vibrate a bit other than that really good and at 30hz

OMG! a thread resurrected after 5 years.

GaryG is no longer associated with adire, i've contacted him a while ago for DIY sub parts and i don't think adire has any dealers in UK

bkelec.com & http://www.lautsprechershop.de has good selection

that's easy here u go
u can even filter it to like 20hz or what ever i use 30 my self

http://www.bkelec.com/Modules/bsbpv500.htm

thats the max one they sell. there are others there
i run it at 8ohms right now till i build a new box with sound dampener.
cos on some films the box vibrates a bit other wise perfect.
at 8ohms they said will last longer and power be more like 350rms still more than the sub takes, or 500rms at 4ohms
