Cheap alternative to xbox extender?

I sometimes want to go to bed and watch some recorded TV, can I use one of the cheaper A/V senders with my MCEPC to get the signal to my TV?

I don't really want to fork out for an xbox and extender stuff, I just want to send the signal from my PC to a TV in another room, or from one TV to another. I can remote desktop into the MCEPC from my laptop when I want to switch it off so controlling the PC isn't that important to me, I just want picture and sound, cheaply.

Has the laptop got TV out? If so you could use that as the extender.

Can you not share the recorded TV file on the network and watch it over wifi on the laptop, this is all I do.

Window media player will play them fine if you have a DVD codec.

doh! I never thought of using the laptop. What an absolute divvy. Thinking about how I could do it and the answer is staring me right in the face. I watched TV on my laptop last night streamed wirelessly with no problem and it has SVideo so I've ordered a pro SVideo kit (to get colour) so I can hook it up to my TV. I reckon I can use a wireless mouse in combination with AutoHotKey to give me full remote media playback control and to put the laptop and source PC into standby when I'm done. Brilliant.

Hello I know a bit about networking but I'm new to MCE. How do you stream TV over the network to an ordinery PC rather than an MCE extenender?

You can only do it with recorded tv - not live
