WARNING: 6630 does not charge in CK-7W
I have been a Nokia customer for nearly 7 years, I am now sorely disappointed with my latest phone and car kit.
My wife first got a 6630 3 months ago, I decided that I would join her so that we could share accessories like the existing pop-port (CARK 126) car kit. It was only when I got my 6630 that I found out that the 126 pop port would not work with the phone -Thank you Nokia, so much for future proof pop-port accessories.
Shelled out on a CK-7W -the only compatible kit listed on the Nokia web site. Only problem, as mentioned above, is that with the data cable attached it does not change the phone -Nokia web site states otherwise. However my old 6100 does charge and work.
This has been confirmed by the Nokia helpline.
So, if I want to charge my phone (finding that 6630 really eats its battery), I have to manually plug in a charge cable as well as the data cable -yes its going to be a really elegant installation with 2 cables flapping about.
I don’t want to connect with Bluetooth because that connection will be used with a GPS receiver so I have to laboriously plug in the data cable each time.
This has really p***ed me off, now stuck with a really awkward situation.
Oh well, had the 6630 3 weeks, just another 49 weeks before the contract is up! - I may at that time jump ship to another manufacturer.
