Recording from DVD to HDD?

Hi all

I currently have a Pioneer DVR-220 standalone DVD recorder and greatly regret not buying a HDD model instead. I am tempted to upgrade to a Pioneer DVR-530HS but was wondering if you can record from DVD to the HDD. The reason I ask is that I've recorded various football matches from the telly onto DVDs and would like to edit and compile them.

Also, what is the thoughts of the folks who own a Pioneer DVR-530HS? I've found the standalone Pioneer DVD recorder easy to use, it's just a shame it doesn't have a hard disk.

The 530H can record from DVD to HDD, but if it's a finalised video-mode disc it will re-encode the data, with a slight loss in quality as a result.

Other than that annoying feature, the 530 is an excellent piece of kit for editing.
