Remote Control Non-remote control Tape Deck. Possible?

Hi gurus,

Have a Sony tape deck - yes I know, I know but those of us with hordes of cassettes it's a must as to buy their equivalent CD would make no financial sense at all! - well, for those of us "non Bill Gates" types anyway - anyway, as I was saying, I have a Sony deck which does not have built-in remote control capabilities.
I'd like to get myself a new amplifier (with remote control) that can handle inputs from all possible audio sources as well as have the ability to indirectly control the tape deck.
Is this possible at all in any form, shape...

Thanks for your inputs, whether positive or negative.

Regards,
Tj_El

If it doesn't have built-in remote control capabilities than i'm afraid the only remote control you can do to it is plug it into a socket near you and switch it on and off like that!

You'll need to find a deck that is remote controllable - most more recent Yamahas are, for example.

I've got a Technics tape deck that didn't come with a remote control supplied, but it does have a remote sensor and therefore can be used with a programable remote - as clrearly stated in the manual. If your Sony tape deck has this then you are in luck, if not then as already stated a long stick is the only remote you can use

Mark.
