Remote is ignored after standby
I can use my bog-standard official MS remote control to wake my MCE from standby, but once woken, remote commands are ignored.
This fault appeared a week or so ago and I have changed nothing at all, although Windows Update is switched on. Before that it worked fine.
The receiver light flashes, so a signal is being transmitted and received.
After a reboot, the remote works fine.
Just stoping and starting the MCE application doesn't get it to work.
Seems odd that the remote can wake the PC, but then not control it.
h/w is a homebrew based on a Dell GX260.
Anyone else experienced this, or better stil, got a fix?!
Mark

Try 'Media Center Refresher'.
It's a small program which automatically exists MCE when you go to standby and then restarts when you wake. Ensures your USB devices, including remote are activated again.
I had intermittent probs with non-responsive remote after S3 wake on one of my pc's and this software solved it.

How about a link to this software?
Google doesn't come up with any useful hits.

I don't have the media center refresher but I do have a little app that exits the MCE front end back into WIndows when you go into standby. It doesn't affect waking up to record but does mean that when you resume by pressing the power button on the remote control you are taken into the Window's front end instead of the MCE front end. In order to get into the MCE front end you have to press the green button after resuming.
This means your media center reminds you of it's Windows heratage every time you resume from standby but I have found that my system is very stable as a result of using it.
If anyone wants a copy then PM me with your email addy and I will send it through.

It would be useful if those that I have sent a copy of the MCE closer app to post here to let us know if it fixed their problem with the remote not working after waking up from standby.

Again thanks Mark for the very good MCE Shutdown app, It's work perfect. No problems I put the app in my startup folder and have my MCE system working fine when going into standby. My only concern is that for such a small application is uses a fair bit memory. Last time I looked it was using 14,008K in Task Manager.

You know I've never looked at how much memory it was using. Blase approach from someone with 1GB RAM I guess.
I got it from a friend of mine (he can program..I can't). I'll see if he can do anything about the amount of memory it uses.
Glad it sorted out your problem though and thanks for getting back to me.

Cheers Mark, My MCE PC has 1GB so memory is not a problem either though 14mb was alot for such a small program other than that it is excellent program thanks again Mark.
