How much variation is there in low light recording quality between mid priced cams? I find my JVC 9800 pretty poor at recording indoors, even with all of the lights on. What sort of quality should I expect to get? Using the agc makes the picture very grainy and colours are washed out, whereas the auto function reduces the shutter speed and makes the picture brighter but jerky. Should I look around for a replacement or just accept that this is normal and buy some more lights for the lounge! I remember borrowing a sony hi8 some time ago and i'm sure that it was better in low light - is this a failing with JVC cams?
