I have just ordered the Microsoft media centre remote with receiver.
I would like to know if the receiver which comes supplied with the remote be compatible with the Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=038#) remote keyboard which is for sale on ebay without the receiver.

Thanks

Yup, that's the way they're supplied. How much are they going for on eBay?

FWIW there's a shortage of the MCE Remote controls ATM. Can't get them for love nor money - my supplier is quoting 25th November:mad:

I have ordered the ealier version of the remote without the teletext coloured buttons for £17.99 click (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5828150309&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT)
The keyboard is £45 delivered click (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wireless-Media-Center-Centre-2005-Remote-keyboard_W0QQitemZ5829509181QQcategoryZ47779QQssPa geNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Do you know if it is possible to use a corded mouse when the microsft keyboard is in use as it has a built in mouse on the keyboard.

Damb.. I just looked closer at the remote I ordered and it looks like a cheap knock off :(

It's the MCE2004 version. As you said no teletext buttons, also no TV power button, and a couple of other things IIRC. It'll still work however.

Thanks Skunkpipe, I will end up learning the commands into my pronto anyway :)

Alternatively, you can use your phone!! Tried to buy the Microsoft remote but out of stock. So searched around for other solutions and found this:

Did a keymap for Media Centre and bingo! Now controlling MCE 2005 with my Nokia 6230 via bluetooth - great range and responsiveness. Cool "Mouse Mode" even let's you view the desktop on your phone!!
