Do I need a cancorder and digital camera??

I'm looking at getting a camcorder and/or digial camera but do I need both or will the camcorder also do the job of the camera?

Also, I know nothing about this area so would appreciate some advice on which one(s) I should go for....

The camera and/or camcorder needs to be:

Not too expensive
Good quality
Have good features

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers

I have an Olympus C2000 digicam which has been superceeded by the C2040 for £339 at http://www.ukdigital.co.uk/olympus_d...ameras_pg1.htm
The stills are a lot better than my £1100 Sony TRV30 can do.
I would say that if you want pictures as good as traditional prints you should get a separate digicam.

I second Spectres opinion. I have a Thomson DV Cam with photo feature and have had a Sanyo Digital Camera.

A dedicated stills camera gives better results. The DV Cam is OK for snap shots.

Regards

Smile

Sorry,I didn't realise I could attach pictures,so here's one example hopefully attached.

Original e-mail comment:-

"I have some captured stills examples from my Sony 120 Digital 8 Camcorder to e-mail,that tee and possibly you, would be impressed by and might save him some money, while he thinks about needing a Digital stills camera as well as a Digital Camcorder."

what more can I say....
The video camera may be OK for 'quick and dirty' snapshots... but won't touch a proper still camera

I just ordered a CANON G2 from the US and the pic's I"ve seen on the test web sites were FAR superior to those shown here from the video camera.

I was in same dilemma - Video or still cam.
Plumped for the still cam for now.

try
http://www.dpreview.com
http://www.imaging-resource.com
http://www.dcresource.com

for some incredibly detailed reviews

good luck

Steve
