Camcorder shortlist

Hi all,

We're expecting the first rugrat and want to record events (for future blackmail exercises ).

Looking for a camcorder that has good video quality (not too worried about stills), reasonable optical zoom and importantly 16:9 recording. Cost is not a massive issue as we want to get the right one so we actually use it. Shortlist at the moment is:

Canon MVX45i
Panasonic NV-GS250
Sony DCR-HC90
JVC GZ-MG50

Does anyone know if these are true widescreen units or does it just crop / stretch / mess around with the image? Are there any others out there that I should look at or remove from this list?

We'd appreciate any help with this one.

Thanks

well,
I have just changed my TRV900 for a Sony HDR-HC1E High def 1080i camcorder and would reccommend that for future proofing and VERY high quality film

Thanks Alan,

Sorry should have mentioned that this needs to be smallish for ease of transport / in a bag. I did have a look at the sony on the web and although looked good was a bit too big. Future proofing is not a massive issue, it will only be used occasionally as neither of us are budding film makers.
