Pioneer 701 Hack ???

Can anybody tell me if the Pioneer 701 has a handset hack, or if it needs to be chipped to play mulitregion discs pls.

Didn't the very early Pioneers have a pair of pins inside which could be soldered together, which would open up a region change menu?

My colleague was the first person I knew with a DVD player and he got it shipped from Japan.

I am sure that it was the 707, but it could have been the 717.. He only bought this model because of the region hack..

I will have a scan around and see if I can find any more about this.

Ooppss.. Sorry.. You said 701, not 707... Misread you there.

I thought that Pioneers models have the same digit at the beginning and the end (i.e 525, 737 etc)

Not familiar with the 701. Is this one of those 'Home Cinema In Box' systems?

If its a 'new' model, then I concur with Ian in that it needs to be 'chipped' (I think that nowdays they don't actually install any new hardware, they just put new Firmware on)
