And it came to pass that the bright young children of the Digital Age did gaze upon the great Book Of Analogue and therein found all manner of evil images which were but distant memories in all but the wisened elders. Their curiosity brought forth such questioning as to how such bad things could ever have been allowed in their fair land, the multi-coloured Rainbow Gods of DLP smiled at such impudence and raised their eyes to heaven where the Deity of LCD surveyed his kingdom. And he spoke. 'Let those who embrace the technology of the past be devilled by the three curses of the Audiovid. The horror of the Screen of Burn, the malady of the Convergence Loss and the damantion of Eternal Twilight. The children left the great museum of Homecin and stepped into the bright sunlight of their home world of Dila and thanked the great Lord Lcos for delivering them from the clutches of the dreaded demon Cathratube.
About 500 hours.

It must be a trick Question.
I guess at 200 hours with very high brighness!
What we need is someone to turn up the brightness on their Barco and time how long it takes for the green tube to go like that!!!!

Roland, how long are you going to keep us in suspense?

Yeah Roland, how much longer are you going to keep Tiberious's stomach in suspense? You are killing that guy by the sound of it!
My guess is two ounces, mint and you don't get wafers with it!
On the CRT question my guess is whatever was already on the tube plus a long weekend with Windows running. So if we say it was left Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and noticed Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. then 63 hours plus 200 (being as I don't think this is a double bluff by Roland, it is a short term burn for him to show us).
So, 263 hours!

Well now !!! - if this is true.....and it really IS Mint.....
412 hours
- but for that I`ll insist on the bloody wafers !!

 How many hours then? How could somebody abuse a poor tube like that. Is there some sort of association for the prevention of cruelty to CRT tubes?
uncle eric
03-12-2001, 10:59 PM
From 1 to 100,000 hours in multiples of ten.
I will email you my address for the prize:rolleyes:

Sorry Guys
Well we have no clear winner the actual run time was close on 20000 hrs. See Pic.
Interestingly most of the low readings came from CRT owners.
In actual fact you could all have been right leaving a static image like this could kill a CRT tube very quickly I would say more like 500 hrs than the 10 that one member went for.
This is a typical CRT burn where carelessly leaving the same image on wears the phosphor away.
What is really surprising is how good the picture was before I took the tube out. the next time I do an 808 retube I'll put it in and take a couple of shots.
So no chocolate frog this time but I have a cunning plan.
