You won't be able to 'hack' this as such, It needs to be chipped to make it multiregion. A DIY kit should be about £30 - try linkonline; I've had one of their upgrade chips in my Tosh SD3109 for about 6 months now with no probs.
Unless you are REALLY confident soldering, get someone who is to fit it (or pay extra for the shop to upgrade your machine) as its well fiddly.
Go for it though - can't remember the last R2 disc I bought!
