Unhappy Samsung SP-50L7HX - Green Pixels and banding?

After reading as much as I could from this lovely forum I decide to take the plunge and upgrade my 28" Wega for 50" Samsung.

Received the TV from Currys on Sat however after playing with it for a while I discovered green pixels flickering on the screen. The seemed to go away on its own. Afterwards it was back with a vengance and also with (as I can only describe it as) banding effect ie colours are not graduated (does not blend together and instead are quite abrubt changes??)

Help me please as after taking so long to chose the silly thing I don't want to give it up

Thanks for all your help

Shak

PS If it is helpful the TV is connected to -
DVD - Sony DVP S7700
AMP - Sony DB 930
Speakers - Mission 77 Series & BK XLS200
Pioneer Freeview Box (old one with ONdigital logo on it!)

I know it is not very up to date compared to other people's system but I like everything

I have used the Search as many times as possible and have found a few similar problem but it then did not give a solution.

I did wonder as first if the TV just needed time to be run in?

I will look through the threads again in case I have missed any.

Thanks

Shak

On what type of source are you seeing colour banding? If it's from Sky, Freeview, or Cable, then blame the source. HiDef TVs are very good at showing all the defects in a source. Test with a DVD, or even better, a HiDef source and see if the problem dissapears.
