Call 08702 408060.

They will advise you of the freepost address to send it to. All Sony DAPS, are repaired centrally.

You _shouldn't_ need a recept to be honest. Although some proof of purchase is always handy, perhaps print the Amazon shipping thing and order confirmation.

Indeed:

"Don't worry if you lose your receipt - your rights still apply. It is, however, useful evidence of when you bought a product."

I am sorry, but I am going to have to un-rest your mind a bit.

IanPM is right. But that condition lies with the retailer (if you've lost your receipt they should help you get a copy or re-issue). However, as you are sending direct to the manufacturer, they are entitled to ask you for a proof of purchase, and without a P.O.P, they are entitled to charge for the repair. As has been said, just get a copy of something from Amazon. It will speed up the repair process, and stop any drawn out arguments.

If you look at the terms and conditions of the Sony Warranty it says at number 1:

Quote:
1. Guarantee services will be provided only if the original invoice or sales receipt (indicating the date of purchase, model name and dealer's name) is presented with the defective product within the guarantee period. Sony and ASN members may refuse free-of-charge guarantee service if these documents are not presented or if they are incomplete or illegible. This Guarantee will not apply if the model name or serial number on the product has been altered, deleted, removed or made illegible.
Now I know Sony are flexible, in that I could only give a bank statement showing a debit card payment for my digital camera, which they accepted. However, I don't think they are flexible enough to accept NO document at all.

All valid points, is it not possible to send the unit back direct to Amazon?

They may use some common sense and look at the serial number to work out when that stock was sent out. Yes I know it could be long before its bought but still....

Just hope they fix it for free...and its covered by normal warranty terms...otherwise its a £70 "service charge"
