Has anyone tried to tape from a widescreen dvd onto vhs?
What results in format did you get?
Did it work at all?
Thanks for any feedback.

Unless I'm missing something, you simply get a VHS copy of what you're watching - ie anamorphic DVD recorded onto tape.
If the disc isnt protected, then anamorphic recordings onto DVHS look superb.

I was wondering if the recorded format to tape is the 4:3 part of the widescreen i.e. you would miss a bit at each edge?
or does it record exactly as appears on the tv screen?

when you play back, on a 16:9 set it fills the screen, and on a 4:3 it looks squashed, unless you have a 16:9 mode.
ie just like playing back an anamorphic dvd on a player informed that the tv is 16:9
4:3 or 16:9, the picture resolution is the same.
It's all in the shape of the pixels and the digital squeezing and unsqueezing.
Somebody else will probably be able to give a more technical explaination.
