Freeview's new EPG lineup?

I have just read elsewhere on the internet that there are changes afoot (Oct 18th) when some of Freeview's channel numbers will be re-allocated. Is this correct?

Presumably we'll all have to rescan in order to see/hear all our favourite programmes, some of which will have differenct Channel numbers.

Why hasn't this information been made more widely available?

The new channel lineup has been mentioned in This Thread.
I think that most of the Freeview boxes, rather than the old On/ITVDigital boxes, will automatically update as the channels change so it shouldn't be too much messing around for most people.
