Football better on analogue than freeview?

Is it me or does football still look better on an analogue signal than a freeview signal? through a crt

I am probably way behind on this question so please excuse

for free view I have a sony digi box

Over compression is the bane of all digital TV and football is a major bitrate eater and it's simply not given enough bandwidth to allow for the rapid changes in the frames.

If it's an comfort both BBC and ITV footy coverage on Dsat is just as bad, I always watch on analogue even without 16:9 broadcasts.
