Go for the Denon ones, they are superb, my sister has a panasonic and to be honest i dont think too high of the build or sound quality

I ended up with a Yamaha E400 Pianocraft when looking a few years back.
Cant grumble at the sound quality even with the matching speakers.
It's been replaced by the E600 now http://www.hifistore.co.uk/product.php?qsProd=RDXE600
There is also the E300 which seems good value too.
The only thing I miss is no DAB.
Might be worth a look.

the M31 exactly, is a brilliant machine, i recommeded one for a freind and we were both impressed with how solid and clear it sounds for an all in one, if you really want the best all in one go for a second hand LINN classik - simply amazing , you should be bale to get oen second hand for about £400-£500, and it really is amazing.

it can go pretty high, but really really loud, rememeber you only get bookshelf speakers so it does limite how loud it goes, by all means more than capable for a bedroom or small lounge, again if you go for a second hand LINN you can always add a power amp at later stages so you have more flexibility. but the Denon are supplied with speakers from Misssion, so the speakers are fairly good. but rememeber the size of the speakers and power output will limit how loud it can go, but for a small system within your bduget i persoanlly dont think you can get better than Denon.
