Question Any Sony CX1 owners live in London?

I have a Sony CX1 and have noticed occasional feint vertical banding.

I've posted questions about this a couple of times and have been given one or two suggestions regarding possible solutions.

However, I really need to see another CX1 set up, because if I don't see the banding on someone else's machine then a call to Sony might be in order!

So if anyone lives in south or central London and wouldn't mind giving me a demo, please get in touch - I'd be very grateful.

Sam

My Brother had 2 of these projectors, the first he got exchanged because of a dead pixal, the second had a coulour fault, which went back also, for a full refund, both of these projectors suffered from the vertical banding on s-vhs, we then tried it on my pc using windvd with no improvement.

Im in Birmingham, and since day one I've used the D-SUB connector with my HTPC and have never seen banding whatsoever. I would call Sony as it sounds like a faulty machine to me. Also I tried the svideo connector out of curiosity and didnt notice any banding, however I did notice a severe degradation of image quality compared to viewing media by my HTPC whether DVD or cabletv via www.dscaler.org (but then again most people say it compares with >£7000 hardware scalers anyway..

James

p.s I wonder if its to do with the internal scaler of the Sony?. The CX1 is natively 1024x768 which I have always run my PC at so maybe the internal scaler is causing the banding issue?, but it sounds like a fault to me.

Same Banding Problem

Can this be a ROM version issue ?

I have the same banding problem since the first day
(august 2001).
Is it a "settings" problem ?

The Factory menu says the ROM version is 1.01
Someone on the uk.media.home-cinema newsgroup told me
he has no banding problem but ROM version 1.02.

I've asked Sony for the differences between these versions
but currently have no reply.

What ROM version do you have ?
What should I do to get rid of these bands ?

Thanks,
B
