Question Philips Pronto and Telewest

Just come back from my bvrother in laws and hes just had a Pronto......guess what........I WANT ONE!!!!

Two questions though?

Will it learn the remote codes for a Telewest cable TV box?

Where is the cheapest place to get one from, any recommendations?

Cheers in advance

The clincher is analogue or digital..... the cable companies decided to use IRDA (the ir standard used by laptops/printer/pda) in their digiboxes rather then the usual standard used for av equipment.

I presume this was go they could do something whizzy for interactive as IRDA is a more complex standard

I seem to remember one of the cable digiboxes does not use irda but can't remember the manufacturer (definitely not pace)

If your on digital there ain't much hope for you at the moment. If you also happen to have a tivo there is an unstantiated rumour that they are going to do something but nothing has appeared as yet.

If you're analogue you won't have a problem.

The Pace 4000 series boxes do not use irDA.

These are the standard issue in the old ntl areas (i.e. non ex-C&W), and these work fine with the Pronto.

I understand that Telewest is now installing 4000 series set top boxes, certainly in some areas.
